Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates a number of amazing miracles. In honour of the upcoming Festival Of Lights, we are highlighting 8 miracles that have happened at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem over the past year:
#1: We marked the hospital’s 120th birthday this year! Just as the lights reflected on the Old City Walls in honour of the hospital’s milestone 120th year, may the candles on your Menorah shine bright, and bring light and love into your home.
#2: Innovation is constantly present at Shaare Zedek, some examples include how doctors at the hospital helped a woman who has suffered from two decades of tremors, enabling over-the-phone voice analysis to detect Atrial Fibrillation in stroke patients, and history was even made when doctors cleared a patient’s vessels using a tiny crown coated with a diamond chip! Innovative thinking and practice allows for miracles to take place each and every day at the hospital.
#3: The miracle of life was experienced at Shaare Zedek, with lots of gorgeous little miracles who were born at the hospital this year!
#4: From lending Ukraine War relief efforts, to treating terrorist attack victims, and more, Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem’s emergency response has seen many miracles over the year, saving, delivering, and changing countless lives.
#5: The miracle of success was felt throughout the hospital all year long, specifically when Share Zedek was ranked as one of the top ten hospitals in Jerusalem by Israel’s Health Ministry, a truly massive accomplishment!
6: Shaare Zedek staff have experienced miracles this year too, like Nurse Basi, who was diagnosed with a rare multisystem syndrome called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), and despite this challenge has learned how to cope and function at work, or 19 year-old Eraya, who travelled from a life of challenge in Tunisia, and is now living her dream by working as a National Service Volunteer at the hospital.
#7: The new Helmsley Cancer Center at Shaare Zedek had its grand opening this November. The Center will be a hub for critical cancer research and treatment, benefiting patients in Jerusalem, Israel, and around the world, and will certainly allow for many miracles to take place for years to come.
8: The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation celebrates the miracle of YOU, our amazing community, who has shown us incredible support over the past year. Thank you for opening your hearts in support of our Hospital With A Heart, we appreciate your generosity and kindness, and can’t wait to see all that 2023 has in store.
The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation wishes our entire community
Chag Sameach, an awesome, fun, miracle-filled Hanukkah!
