Dr. Amir Orlev, Head of the Cardiology Department at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, was on his way to work when he noticed a man lying on the roadside. Despite being ignored by passerbys, Dr. Orlev stopped to help. He called an ambulance and drove the man to the hospital himself.
Upon arrival, Dr. Orlev identified the man as Chaim, a man in his 50s, who was suffering from a severe blood clot in his lung and had also sustained a head injury from a fall. Dr. Orlev promptly arranged for Chaim to be examined in the Emergency Room. Tests revealed a large clot in Chaim’s pulmonary artery, which required immediate removal.
Dr. Orlev, together with Prof. Danny Dvir and Prof. Elad Asher, performed a successful surgery to remove the clot. Thankfully, Chaim’s condition stabilized, and a full recovery is expected.
Together we continue saving, delivering, and changing lives.
