In honour of Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s 120th anniversary here’s a fun fact: Did you know that Shaare Zedek opened its doors in January 1902, and started off with just 20 patient beds, along with its very own on-site cowshed to provide milk for use by patients and staff?
Hospital administration from Shaare Zedek Medical Center reviewed all kinds of neat facts about the hospital when they recently toured a new exhibit located at the site of the original Shaare Zedek building, on Jaffa Street.
The exhibit launched in honour of the hospital’s 120th anniversary, and showcases the remarkable history of Shaare Zedek, emphasizing the advancement of modern medicine, technology, innovation, and ongoing development at the hospital.
The tour also included presentations from relatives of Dr. Moshe Wallach, Shaare Zedek’s first Director General who served the hospital for over 40 years!
The building where the exhibit is being held first served Shaare Zedek until 1979, when the hospital was moved to the current campus.
