Josef Lefkowitz is a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor currently being treated at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
An incredibly inspiring individual, Josef was involved in the capture of the infamous Amon Goth, the notorious commandant of the Plazhov concentration camp chronicled in Schindler’s List. Joseph immigrated to Israel at age 88 and recently authored his life’s story that has been translated into 30 languages.
Joseph shared this message of hope and solidarity with the IDF saying:
What’s the difference between the Nazis and Hamas? There’s no difference.
But WE have one major difference. The major difference is that during the Holocaust we had no defense. My entire family went to the gas chambers and I was the only one left alive. The difference is that today we have a state. We have an army. That is the major difference. I wish only success and always pray for our soldiers.
Believe in Hashem because He can help us. He created the world, and this is a beautiful world that is worth living in.”
Thank you Josef for your words of wisdom – AM ISRAEL CHAI
