A new study was published in the November edition of “The Journal of Clinical Investigation” revealing a gene that influences the development of ovaries.
Professor Ephrat Levy-Lahad, Director of Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s Fuld Family Department of Medical Genetics was one of the lead researchers for this study, entitled: “A mutation in the nucleoporin-107 gene causes XX gonadal dysgenesis,” which introduces a revolutionary idea that it is possible to build organs at the genome level.
The study was approved by the IRB of Shaare Zedek Medical Center (approval no. 20/10) as well as the Israel National Ethics Committee for Genetic Studies. Informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians.
