In 2018, Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s Glaubach Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine increased the number of patients seen by close to 14% making this the third largest Pediatric Emergency Room in Israel. This increase is attributed to the addition of certain services as well as the continued efforts of the staff to offer our young patients outstanding care and a positive experience.
This past year, Dr. Eyal Heiman joined our Pediatric Emergency Medicine Department from Schneider Medical Center. Dr. Heiman has a long history volunteering with Zichron Menachem since he was a young adult. In addition, the opening of our Pediatric Neurosurgery Department headed Dr. Gustavo Rajz, has made Shaare Zedek a local referral center for more complex cases.
Dr. Giora Weiser, the Head of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Department shared, “We are here day and night. Our staff is highly professional, caring and focused on offering the children of greater Jerusalem top level medical care while making sure that the children have a positive experience. Our entire staff- doctors, nurses, Bnot Sherut (people performing their year of national service), clowns, volunteers, and housekeeping personnel are happy to do all we can to help and offer a smile to anyone.”
One mother shared, “When my son got hurt he really resisted coming to the hospital. From the moment we entered the emergency room, he calmed down. The staff stabilized the situation, they brought my son a toy and I just watched the staff…so much patience, asking what happened, trying to calm situations, caring explaining things… It is a very special atmosphere and although I hope my son never need their services, I know next time he will cooperate and come to Shaare Zedek. Thank you to the entire staff.”
