Mr. Ori Ronen is 35 years old. Three years ago he was in an accident and for years, he suffered from damage to his head that hindered his day to day activity. He had tinnitus and a pulsing sensation behind his ear.
Ori explained, “It was like a siren 24/7 that doesn’t stop…” Ori tried many different things and went to different doctors, numerous tests and specialists but nothing helped. Finally, he went for an MRI where it was revealed that he had an ArterioVenous Malformation (AVM), an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, bypassing the capillary system.
Ori was then referred to Dr. Yaakov Amsalem, the Director of our Lee & Anne Samson Interventional Neuro-radiology Unit. Ori shared, “During my meeting with him [Dr. Amsalem], I discovered an amazing person! Professional, a caring individual, smiley and serious…He showed me exactly the problem, he reviewed with me his treatment approach and scheduled me to come back within two weeks for a brain catheterization…
It is now three days after the procedure and I feel great,…I even slept the whole night without waking up…I got my life back…I most want to thank the staff of Shaare Zedek, the incredible and professional staff of Interventional Neuro-radiology headed by Dr. Yaaqov Amsalem, Eti and Sigal who did not stop smiling, helping and giving me support. A heartfelt thanks to the staff of the ICU and to the doctors and nurses who treated me and listened to my stories,…thanks to the staff of Neurosurgery, to Dr. Ori,…To Machmud the nurse and sweet Sigal the nurse and to all of the doctors and nurses. You do amazing work and dedicate your lives to treating people. I am eternally grateful!”
