Itai Rimmel, released from Shaare Zedek for continued rehabilitation

Half a year after he was critically injured with his family in a car accident, Itai Rimmel, 12 years old, was released this morning from Shaare Zedek Medical Center to continue his rehabilitation.

Itai came to Shaare Zedek in critical condition and his life was in danger for many days.

Thanks to intensive treatment over the past six months by the medical and nursing staff from the trauma and surgical units, pediatric intensive care, pediatric neurology, orthopedics, physical therapy and other teams – his condition has improved and his life is no longer at risk.

Over the past couple of month, his condition continued to improve and today he was released to continue his rehabilitation.

Itai’s father, Ephraim Rimmel, who was also seriously injured in the car accident, said today “Our Itai was in critical condition for four months and today he is already beginning to communicate and improve. Everyone’s prayers reached The Almighty and have enabled a great medical miracle, as the doctors define it. Thank you to the medical teams for their  dedicated treatment and to everyone for all of their support and prayers for his complete recovery. ”

The Director General of Shaare Zedek, Professor Ofer Merin, “We are standing here excited to see Itai today and the improvement in his condition. I am proud of our doctors and nurses who took care of Itali and Ephraim with tremendous dedication and we wish the entire Rimmel family good health and good news. ”

Dr. Alon Schwartz, the Head of the Trauma Unit, “Half a year after the serious accident, we are so happy to see Itai being released in good condition. Itai and the entire Rimmel family have become part of the Shaare Zedek family and we will continue to support them. On behalf of the entire staff of Shaare Zedek, we wish Ephraim and the whole family a lot of health and happiness. ”

The medical and nursing teams gathered this morning to say goodbye to Itai and wish him and his family health and happiness.
