Meet Shoshana Levy, a professional harp player, who has always believed that her music has therapeutic qualities and promotes healing.
When her close friend was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer, Shoshana decided to join her friend at the hospital and play the harp between her treatments in the Oncology Department at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The melodious sounds of the harp helped sooth her friend as well other patients in the center.
Prof. Nathan Cherny, Oncologist, Director of Cancer Pain and Palliative Medicine at Shaare Zedek invited Shoshana to join the unit. She has been volunteering for over 20 years, playing the harp for our patients. Now Shoshana visits the Helmsley Cancer Center regularly and her music helps regulate mood, reduce anxiety and depression as well as sooth patients.
Thank you, Shoshana, for spreading kindness and helping us save, deliver, and change lives
