“As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, here at Shaare Zedek we’re proud to announce our embrace of new innovation with the potential to help countless women address one of the more challenging aspects of cancer treatment.
It’s well known that chemotherapy treatment brings with it hair loss, adding to the emotional and practical trauma that comes with a cancer diagnosis. But through a new device, now in use at Shaare Zedek, it’s no longer an inevitable side effect of the treatment.
Dr. Hadar Goldvaser (pictured), Director of the Anat and Amnon Shashua Breast Health Center at Shaare Zedek explains, “This is a device that releases a cooling fluid that goes into the silicon-filled helmet. This is an extremely safe and proven approach that has already been used by over 100,000 patients around the world.”
The treatment isn’t associated with any known side effects and has been proven to significantly reduce hair loss, thus providing an important way to help our patients better handle this well-known challenge of treatment.
