Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem recently fulfilled a grant from USAID/ASHA for an Innovative Gastroenterology System. This system has improved the health and quality of life for the thousands of diverse patients who come to Shaare Zedek Medical Center from across the regions, seeking specialized care. One of the Project Managers is a research fellow in genetic Gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, bringing American Best Practices back to Israel.
The new equipment, including Endoscopic Ultrasounds and the Spy Glass Endoscope, has enabled Shaare Zedek to significantly increase preventative and diagnostic efficiency in treating illnesses such as Pancreatic and Colon Cancer, Crohn’s Disease, and IBS, and has allowed the hospital to make a significant mark in the field of Gastroenterology in Israel and the Middle East. The increased efficiency has also led to fewer, and shorter hospitalizations. Critical clinical data and experience gained from using this new system over the last two years (even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic), has been presented and shared globally at digital international conferences.
This is a truly wonderful gift from USAID/ASHA. The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation is grateful for the enhanced patient care by Shaare Zedek that is being made possible as a result of this new equipment.
