Shaare Zedek’s Prof. Arthur Eidelman, who is this year’s recipient of the Sylvan Adams Nefesh B’Nefesh Bonei Zion Prize in the field of Science and Medicine! Prof. Arthur Eidelman is the founder of the Department of Neonatology at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, the first department of its kind in Israel.
Prof. Eidelman made Aliyah in 1978 from New York. Under his guidance, Shaare Zedek has become associated with pioneering care in treating newborns and in particular the intensive care of premature and congenitally-ill babies. As a mentor to many of our current physicians and medical staff, it was in large part his vision and oversight that helped develop our current Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, respected as one of the largest and most advanced facilities of its type anywhere in the world.
Now in retirement from the position he held at Shaare Zedek for decades, Prof. Eidelman remains a central member of the hospital team, and continues to consult on medical cases to serve as an educator for both our current staff, and the next generation of medical professionals.
The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation extends our congratulations to Prof. Eidelman on this significant accomplishment. Mazel Tov, thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to save, deliver, and change lives!
