Chag Sameach—Today is the Jewish holiday of Tu BiShvat! This holiday, also known as “Rosh Hashanah La’Ilanot” or the “New Year of the Trees,” is all about caring for our natural environment.
In honour of this special holiday, The Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem transformed into a forest for all of the children at Schneider Children’s Medical Center. In collaboration with Tikva Umarpe, a charity in Jerusalem, balloon trees were arranged throughout the department, and everyone enjoyed traditional Tu BiShvat treats of various fruits and nuts.
Tu BiShvat is not just considered the “Holiday for the Trees,” but it is also an opportunity to care for those around you, share your wishes for the future, and watch the fruits of your labour blossom.
The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation wishes everyone a Happy Tu BiShvat!
