Shimi Davidson is 10 years old and he recently ran the 5k in the Jerusalem Marathon. With his mom’s encouragement and guidance, Shimi designed his own sponsorship program and ran in the marathon to raise funds for Shaare Zedek’s Wilf Children’s Hospital.
Shimi explained, “My uncle Paul heads up acrylicize, the company that was involved in the interior decoration of Shaare Zedek’s new Wilf Children’s Hospital so I heard a lot about the hospital and came to visit when it was being built. I was also born in Shaare Zedek so I decided to raise money for the hospital. Every time someone pledged money, I started jumping around. It was very exciting. When I came to Shaare Zedek to give all of the donations, I really felt like ‘I did it’ and it felt really good.”
Nikki, Shimi’s mom shared, “We have visited Shaare Zedek several times and we were really moved by the dedication and warmth of the staff. I am very proud of Shimi for his hard work and dedication to raising money for Shaare Zedek and I am very happy that he is so excited about helping others.”
Shimi, congratulations on your very successful race (completing the run in a better time than you expected), We very much appreciate all of your efforts on behalf of the young patients at Shaare Zedek and wish you good health!
