Due to a sharp increase in patients and general services, the Jerusalem Municipality’s Planning and Building Committee announced Tuesday that is has approved a significant expansion of Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

According to the approved plan, the medical center’s acreage will be increased from 46 to 82, allowing the hospital to potentially triple its scope by 2035. In the near term, three new buildings have been approved for medical research, emergency services and staffing needs.

Additionally, public and private transportation access to the hospital will be improved via the project. Shaare Zedek Medical Center presently has the highest growth rate in Israel.
