Can you imagine the sensation of hearing sound for the first time?
For the first time in Israel, doctors at Shaare Zedek Medical Center performed a pioneering surgery and gave a 5 year old boy the gift of sound. The boy was born without a cochlear nerve (also known as the auditory or acoustic nerve) which carries auditory sensory information from the cochlea of the inner ear directly to the brain.
